Best Homemade Granola

This homemade granola recipe is the BEST EVER.

It has been passed down from my husband’s side of the family and it makes my kids and hubby go bonkers. My mother-in-law gives them gallon ziplocs of it for Christmas every year and it’s their favorite thing.  They HIDE it because it is that precious to them.

The bags of granola from Christmas are now long gone, our college girl has the flu, plus it’s raining, so it seemed like the perfect day to pull this comforting number out from my faded recipe book.

I’m not much of a cereal girl, but I do like it on yogurt as a healthy dessert.  

Also, baking this up will makes your house smell like PURE HEAVEN.

Best Granola Ever

Ingredients
  

  • 4 1/2 cups of Old Fashioned oats
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts I use pecans
  • 3/4 cup wheat germ if you can’t find it, you can use flax seeds
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Spread the oats in a 9 x 13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Stir in the coconut, nuts and wheat germ. Then add the honey, coconut oil and vanilla. Mix until well-coated. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • After removing from oven stir in 1 cup or raisins or dried fruit of your choice.
  • Store in mason jars or you can freeze it in large ziploc bags to keep it fresh for longer.

Notes

**Have you seen store-bought granola? It has tons of extra sugar and gunk. This is simple ingredients and the only sugar is from organic honey. So. There.
