I’ve been working on a book concept for more than a year. Thousands of words. Hundreds of hours. Some tears, some long conversations with God, and lots of grappling with a message that I feel called to share.
Lots of my friends know this, but I’ve never shared here on the blog…
So there, I said it.
Phew.
I have partnered up with a dear friend and co-writer in this effort, solicited help from editor friends, and tapped on my keyboard late at night when everyone is asleep except me and my cat.
It’s lonely work, the writing and re-writing.
The words that have poured out are the ones I have most needed to hear. Words of healing and reconciliation and of making sense of this cobbled path I’ve walked. I think God works just like that~ stirring the message up inside of us as an inner conversation, and then calling us to tell others. It’s humbling.
Here is what He has been stirring in me:
We can’t begin to whisper the words “You are beloved” to our daughters until we ourselves swallow the whole of what this means: the radical truth that God has seen and will see every bent path we have taken. And loves us deeply, always.
I haven’t written the bones of this book alone, and it’ still a huge work in progress. My friend and I have talked late at night and met with agents, prayed and grappled with words. It’s a beautiful, hard, soul-stirring thing.
And it’s time to get a bit braver about it all. Because none of us was meant to walk into our dreams and stirrings alone. We are stronger together.
So I’ve put a bit of the message from the book in my heart into a piece that I’ve entered in a writing contest here. Would you pop over and read and send some love my way? I’d be grateful if you shared the link and just generally showed me some support. The contest is an opportunity to meet with a publisher and I’m just gonna run after it. Run after it scared and open to whatever this little risk might mean.
Even if it’s just boldly saying this one more time: I am a writer.
Enough about me. Here’s a letter from God that I wrote to all of us. Because I needed to remember. Maybe you do, too?
The Letter From God Every Daughter Should Read <————–pop over here to read my contest entry and vote~~ thank you!
