Art is a quiet discipline. Those who write and sew, paint, sing, dance or draw? We spend a lot of time alone. A lot of time wondering if what we do makes a bit of difference.
But most times we are oblivious as to whether or not our talents impact lives.
We just know that practicing art changes us.
Molds us.
Makes us feel closer to the image God had in mind for us all along.
Because when we struggling to find the right words to describe the pounding in our hearts, moving to music, or painting the sunrise, we know that we are mirroring what God did first, before we even existed.
He CREATED.
And it becomes a beautiful gift to ourselves, the creating. A soul-rest.
This week I have two great big announcements that involve artists. I have been so anxious to share this news with you!
First, Shelley and Matt Washington have created a dozen or more NEW art pieces that are now available and they are selling them exclusively through The Beloved Shop. These two dear friends renewed their wedding vows last week and it is the most beautiful story of redemption. The fact that I got to witness it and be a small part in their lives is a great gift to me and all those who were given a message that GOD makes beauty out of our messes. He reclaims marriages and lives and wood. And He can awaken the artist in us if we are willing to believe it’s possible.
Click here to read Matt and Shelley’s story and shop online. They also love creating custom orders that display your favorite quote or scripture.
Also?!!!: You may know that Outside the City Gate is an online community that is so very close to my heart. This online space is where writers and dreamers have been story-telling for more than a year.
Behind the scenes a whole new movement has been happening there.
Starting THIS Sunday, February 1 we will be offering an e-mail only “church online” mailing. More than 20 artisans~ musicians, writers, speakers, artists are collaborating for Sunday Community. We will not be sharing this circle on social media~ it will quietly slip into your mailbox each Sunday.
A gift from artisans. A gift of a circle of people who want to pause and praise together on a day meant for rest and reflection. There will be songs and videos, words and worship. A collective worship in the form of art. I’d love to have you join us.
This is a vision of a non-competitive cooperation of the Body of Christ, a love offering in the form of a newsletter. This is for anybody who needs a circle of faith builders in their lives and wants to be with a community of dreamers. Don’t miss the exclusive content and the Artisan’s debut; be part of the community!
