SHE

Jumping in to Five Minute Friday with Lisa Jo Baker this week. The rules are that This Blue Jean Girl has 5 minutes to reflect on a one-word prompt and then I link up with other writers.   So here I go: ——————————————————————————-

This week’s one-word prompt is:    SHE

START. “““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““
She has always been the first responder to my breaking heart. She creeps in and crawls next to me in bed, between my brokenness and my books.  She is strong.  She scoots the cat away, look into my eyes, and understands.
She is Mercy.
She calls gently, the name God spoke over me: Mercy calls me “Beloved.”
After some time with her, Mercy invites me into a conversation with  Grace. Grace holds my hand when I cry and lifts my head when shame makes me heavy.  Grace helps me walk tall and ushers me down the hallway to a forgiving God.
Mercy, you have always been the first one to welcome me.  A gateway to Grace and then to My Healer. You re-introduce me to the one who is the most Merciful: the One who is everything
Thank you Mercy. For not being afraid to approach broken me . For extending a hand and a smile and a friend named Grace. I am nothing without you.
I took the above photo on my 40th birthday, on a camping trip in North Georgia at Vogel State Park. The mercy this hydrangea invited startled me.  Still does.

About Five Minute Friday:
“““Lisa-Jo Baker started this movement. I’ve followed  “FMF”  (Five Minute Friday) for a long-dang time. Lisa gives a one-word prompt every week and it’s a link-up for Christian writers. All contributors are to write for 5 minutes on the topic, and then post their words without edits and too much mulling.
It’s open-heart surgery for writers.
For a year or more I have stood in the bleachers and cheered, inspired by words, and bravery.
This week’s word resonated, so I’m joining the league.
I’m pretty sure I will take up residence here. This is my tribe. I’m IN, Lisa Jo. I’m all about putting words out there, un-edited… And God redeeming the messiness of my scribbles.
(I still have 30 seconds left in my 5 minutes….now THAT”S Mercy.)
