#Love Syria

I have a couple of posts I finished writing.  And they’re going to stay on my iPad.
Because when I saw images from Syria I couldn’t “unsee” them. Anything I had to say seemed unimportant.  I became a bit speechless.

Some sister-bloggers started a movement a couple of days ago and I’m asking you to join us.  It’s 25 days of prayer for Syria.
I have to look Syria up on a map.   I’m Terrible (with a capital “T”) with geography. But does it really matter where horrific pain is located?
So what I’m asking is simple. Click the image below, read Idelette’s post (beautiful) and sign up to receive prayers each day in your inbox.  Prayers we can say together.
I’m copying the first one I received below so you can see the relevancy.  You won’t regret it.  Prayer is the most powerful thing we can give to this.

From Day 1, Prayers for Syria @shelovesmagazine:
God of all Nations, I’m here today in an attempt to stand in prayer with my brothers and sisters in Syria. Of all people, I feel least equipped to do so.   You have given me a very sheltered life. I know not of hunger, political unrest or war. The need to run for my life seems beyond my scope of comprehension. Death of a dearly loved one in peace, let alone in violence, has yet to cast its shadow on my path. The biggest threats to my family at the moment are a handful of wasps on our back porch.   How can I pray when my disproportionately privileged life seems so far removed from these masses that I merely read about in the papers or watch footage of in the news? How do I even begin to pray?   I wait in silence.   You are connected by common emotions, your Spirit prompts me. Start there.   Today I can kneel before God with the people of Syria on the common ground of human emotion. I may not ever know exactly the depth and breadth of their experiences, but I can at least humbly begin:   In the face of fear, Lord, reassure them that You hold them in Your unconditional and never-failing love. May your perfect Love dissipate fear and usher in peace.   In moments of despair, would You revive them, oh God of Hope. Let them know that there is more to the story and that Life is always stronger than death. Through unexpected moments of beauty, grant them glimpses of the glory that awaits.   In times of weariness, grant them strength.
Give them courage to press on.   When the waves of grief hit again and again, be their Haven where they can mourn in freedom. May Your gentle presence be their healing balm.   When anger, disbelief and disappointment arise, provide them with a safe place in which to vent, pose questions and express their emotions.   When the world around them is literally and figuratively crumbling, may they know You as the Solid Rock. Send Your angels as a shield and canopy over those who are most defenseless.   In their brokenness, may they find Your kindness and grace, leading them toward healing and wholeness.   When loneliness seems to be their only companion, may they realize or sense somehow that there are those who love them, holding them in prayer around the world.   And for all the emotions that are beyond words, may Your Spirit intercede and meet each soul in its complexity.   Lord, have mercy on the people of Syria. Christ, have mercy on us all.   Amen.
