A Ride Both Beautiful and Scary

It was a clear day and we wanted to experience the Ferris wheel overlooking the picturesque bay.  There is a childlike excitement that rides like this create, right up there with trampolines and bicycles.  Freedom.   We paid for tickets, got in line, and waited.  We were so excited. Then we looked up.

What appeared so whimsical against the blue sky was still beautiful.  But scary.
Yet after several times around we cackled and smiled and felt likes birds.  From up here we could see the mountains and sailboats, the painted clouds and scattered skyline.
Life feels like this sometimes.  Getting on a ride both beautiful and scary.
We feel mixed up and often so anxious that we want to step out of the line, give all that we’ve invested back, and stay safe.   But God calls us higher.  And He is steadfast.  Keep getting on the ride.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning.    ~ Lamentations 3:  22-23
